The Bandung City Food and Agriculture Service was established on April 15, 2001, based on Bandung City Regulation No. 26 of 2001 which is a combination of 3 services, namely, the Food Crops Agriculture Service, the Animal Husbandry Service and the Fisheries Service, therefore the authority of the Bandung City Agriculture and Food Security Service includes the authority of the food crops agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and plantation sub-sectors. Furthermore, in 2010 based on Regulation No. 13 of 2009, the Food Security Section was re-joined to become one of the Sectors in the Agriculture Service so that the name of the Service changed to the Bandung City Agriculture and Food Security Service.
In January 2017, based on Mayor Regulation Number 1389 of 2016 concerning the Position, Organizational Structure, Duties and Functions and Work Procedures of the Bandung City Food and Agriculture Service, the nomenclature of the service changed to the Bandung City Food and Agriculture Service, with Food Affairs as a mandatory affair followed by Agriculture Affairs and Fisheries Affairs as optional affairs.
Based on Mayor Regulation Number 58 of 2022 concerning the Position, Organizational Structure, Duties and Functions and Work Procedures of the Bandung City Food Security and Agriculture Service, the nomenclature of the service has changed to the Bandung City Food Security and Agriculture Service.
